印度將於24日迎來傳統節日「排燈節」。在印度首都新德裏空氣質量不斷惡化的情況下，新德裏市環境部部長表示，排燈節期間在新德裏放鞭炮的人將面臨最高6個月監禁以及200盧比（1盧比約合0.087元人民幣）罰款。
據英國廣播公司（BBC）20日報道，因為風速低，今年排燈節的空氣質量將會「非常差」，放鞭炮無疑會使空氣質量進一步惡化。19日，該市環境部部長表示，生產、儲存和銷售鞭炮者將面臨最高3年監禁和5000盧比罰款。
